The show's cast have gone on to become big stars, with Nina recently starring in the Netflix Christmas movie Love Hard.

Who Could Have Been Cast In 'The Vampire Diaries'?

Unlike other singers who have transitioned into the world of acting, Taylor Swift hasn't held a ton of movie or TV roles. Taylor Swift's role in Cats has gotten the most buzz since fans and critics didn't love that movie very much.

It turns out that Taylor Swift was almost cast in The Vampire Diaries.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Nina Dobrev was interviewed by E! News and explained, "I remember at the very beginning, we heard that Taylor Swift was a fan of the show. And then the producers tried to write a role for her." The actress mentioned that because of Taylor's schedule, that didn't happen: Nina said, "It didn't work out schedule-wise, obviously, she wasn't on the show. But that was a surprising one. She would have been great."

In a 2009 interview with Page Six, creator Kevin Williamson said he wanted Taylor Swift to star on the show.

When Kevin was asked about Katie Holmes starring on The Vampire Diaries, he said, "I think she’s got bigger fish to fry at the moment — my new obsession is getting Taylor Swift!"

Kevin continued, "I think she’s gotten too big for “Vampire Diaries” now — I tried to get her on the show once, but she was touring. But I’m desperate to have her come play a vampire. Wouldn’t she make an amazing Kirsten Dunst circa 'Interview with the Vampire' type? Oh my god, I can not tell you how hard I’m trying to get her — I would kill to have her on the show!"
