Jason Momoa Doesnt Anticipate Any Aquaman Jokes After Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Aquaman has always been seen as something of a second tier DC superhero, and has been the butt of more than a few fish-related gags over the years. Even though some great writers have worked hard to establish the King of Atlantis as a character worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Superman and Batman, there are still some fans that just can’t seem to take him seriously.

Well, Jason Momoa is confident that’s going to change when he unleashes his live-action take on Aquaman to the world in Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

While speaking at Fan Expo Toronto over the weekend, the former Game Of Thrones actor was asked if his Aquaman was going to be a more “laid back” or “chilled” type of character based on the fact that he’s not taken quite as seriously as some of his fellow DC heroes.

“I can’t see me busting out a bunch of jokes. I mean, I don’t think it’ll be like that … You know, it’s cute and funny, I mean people make fun of him and there’s a bunch of jokes about him. But I’m like ‘Well… just wait. Let’s just wait a little bit. And then we can make jokes…'”

That definitely seems to suggest ‘ol Arthur Curry will be a force to be reckoned with when he makes his debut in the DCEU… but fans probably shouldn’t expect him to be particularly ruthless or barbaric like Momoa’s Game Of Thrones character, Khal Drogo, either.

“I don’t think Aquaman’s going to be raping and pillaging any villages,” he joked.

We’ll first meet Aquaman in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice on March 25, 2016, followed by his solo movie outing on July 27, 2018.
